Seattle Midweek Hikes
Dick Hayek (Qualified Youth Leader)
Wilderness Information Center, Port Angeles
Permit obtained at the Wilderness Information Center in Port Angeles.
This is a three day, two night backpack trip to the most beautiful beach on the Olympic Coast during two of the lowest tides of the year, allowing access to interesting sea life on the coastal rock formations. We'll camp both nights on the beach, allowing a full day to explore and enjoy it. Because of the short hike in and limited elevation gain, this is an excellent trip for families with small children. Water is available from a stream, but, as always, must be filtered, purified or boiled before being consumed. On June 24 we'll have lunch together at the Wilderness Information Center, while we pay fees (about $6 each) for camping permits and bear cannisters.
