TRIP
Seattle Snowshoeing

Barbara H. Motteler   (Qualified Youth Leader)

7:30 AM

Brickyard PR

Skykomish RS

We'll follow the trail up along Surprise Creek to Surprise Lake. If conditions are good, we'll continue to Glacier Lake for lunch and a view of Surprise Mountain before heading down.

Bring ice axe, winter 10 essentials, snow shoes, poles, etc. Extra gloves/mittens, warm jacket for lunch and rain coat/pants also required. Bring a shovel or avalanche probe if you have one. We'll want several for the group.

Avalanche beacon is not required but always recommended.

The lower section of the trail is often packed snow and ice so Yak Trax or Microspikes or similar are recommended.

Note that this trip is 11 miles of snowshoe travel with 2600' of elevation gain. Please be sure you are in good condition (you have been hiking or running 10- 15 miles in a day) if you sign up. If you are not sure of your conditioning, you may want to try a moderate trip first.
