Participants of this seminar will be introduced to a broad range of techniques and scenarios. Upon successful review of safe, basic climbing techniques, students will be guided through the following topics: - Climbing technique - Sport leading - Sport anchor set up and cleaning - Trad protection introduction and SERENE anchors
This module is designed to teach rock climbing skills that will enable you to climb safely in the back country. You will improve on the skills learned in the basic climbing course which includes belaying, rappelling, and climbing in balance. In addition you will be introduced to more advance climbing techniques, placing/protection, building anchors, and lead climbing. The module will be taught in a series of four lectures combined with hands on climbing at Warehouse Rock Gym. We then move outside to four different rock climbing areas. You must have completed the Rock portion of the Basic Climbing class to be eligible for this class. First preference will be given to Olympia BC Grads.
