Volunteers spend the day collecting seeds and planting native plants, working with the Forest Service to restore habitat adjacent to Gold Creek near Snoqualmie Pass in the Interstate 90 corridor, as part of the WA Dept. of Transportation's construction of underpasses to connect habitat for wildlife to successful cross I-90.

Why?

Gold Creek valley, just east of Snoqualmie Pass, plays a tremendous role for wildlife in the Cascades, connecting habitat from north of the freeway to south. Gold Creek itself is home to a resident population of bull trout. The valley of Gold Creek features pikas, black bears, and more. Because it is important for recreation (including picnic areas, an ADA accessible trail, and trailhead into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness), Gold Creek sees a lot of human traffic. It's in need of restoration. Past volunteers have helped remove invasive plants,have planted over 6000 natives, and have collected native plant seed for dispersal.

Conservation Northwest hosts the event in coordination with the Mt Baker Snoqualmie and Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forests. We will organize as a Mountaineer group to help out in this effort. Northwest Forest Pass required.
