Instructor registration for Basic Navigation workshops. New instructors are paired with experienced instructors in an "apprentice" system.

Thank you for volunteering online to instruct at a navigation workshop! Your help makes this program possible. Please be sure your e-mail address, home address and phone number are up-to-date in your Mountaineers “Profile” so we can contact you and send you materials if needed.

Optional (and free!) instructor training sessions will be held on Monday, Oct 15th and Tuesday, Jan 22nd, and you can sign up for either of these online as well. These sessions are open to new or experienced instructors and will go over what to teach in the Navigation workshops, extra tips on how to convey important concepts, and a chance to ask questions as experienced instructors share strategies they have used. For instructors, workshops begin with a briefing at 6:45 p.m. in the clubhouse in the hall outside the room. Please come prepared for each workshop with a compass, several pencils, and USGS maps for Baring and Index…..preferably with the UTM lines already drawn in. Student and instructor worksheets are available for download in the Nav Instructor “Community” section, if you are a previous instructor, or can be sent as files upon request.

If you need to change your plans (drop an event) or have any questions about instructing, please contact wsashby@earthlink.net. Last minute drops cause serious problems, so please avoid them if possible.
