Alpine Scramble or Basic Climbing course graduates that would like to continue their climbing education and/or raise their leadership skills are invited to register for this course. The curriculum is designed to provide an achievable, challenging experience for students. The starting benchmark is a Scrambles or Basic grad with a conditioner, winter overnight and three summits.
The course focus is on leadership, safety, trip planning, climbing skills and alpine rescue. Class* is broken into two parts: One hour of lecture and one hour of skills training. Field trips are active, scenario driven events based on trips that have not gone well.
Students completing classroom and field trip requirements graduate with Advanced Scrambles. Those students moving on and completing the leadership requirements graduate with Advanced Scrambles & Leadership and will be able to request trip leader status.
