This is a Naturalist trip, with slow rambling, stops to view the amazing flower displays, birds, and butterflies in late spring, spectacular views from the ridgetop into the Kittitas Valley, the Cascades, and Mt. Stuart.

Can be done as a loop trip with the flower-filled ascent through an open, somewhat steep, rocky gully, lunch along the ridgetop, and the descent through a forested area with a small stream or seep early in the season.

Interstate 90 to exit 101 for Thorp. Turn right onto South Thorp Hwy and continue 2 miles. Turn right (south) onto Cove Road and drive 6 miles. At the 2nd stop sign, continue straight, crossing Manastash Rd. In 0.2 miles, find the large parking area on the right side of the soon-to-dead-end road.

Hike up is exposed and can be hot, and doggy, and the ridge tends to be windy, so come prepared for almost any weather.

Plant lists will be sent immediately prior to the trip... More
