If you ski in Cascades, you need to learn to ski the hills. For graduates of the Introduction to Ski Course and experienced Nordic skiers, this course focuses on hills: how to get up them, how to ski down them, how to adapt your technique and control your skis on hills, all while having fun. Completion of the course prepares you to confidently ski on intermediate and advanced groomed trails and easy off-piste terrain, with less effort, enhanced confidence, and more grace on previously challenging conditions and terrain. This course may be taken concurrently with the Intermediate Cross Country Skiing Course. Taught by PSIA instructors on groomed trails, the class meets on three weekend days. Note: This class may be taken concurrently with the Intermediate Cross Country (XC) skiing class, which focuses on improving striding technique. Classes are taught on groomed trails at sno-parks in the Snoqualmie Pass/I-90 corridor. A sno-park permit with groomed endorsement is required for each parked vehicle. Class meets on three Sundays (Jan 5, 12, 19) at Crystal Springs Sno-Park south of I-90 Exit 54 at 12:15 AM. Classes are 12:30 - 2:30 and will be taught on Erling Stodhal XC ski trails adjacent to sno-park. Class location may be change due to snow plowing and grooming conditions.
