New to hiking or just want to brush up on what to bring on a day hike? This seminar will cover the basics of what to expect on a typical Mountaineers hike. We will cover what to bring, along with examples of hiking gear, and clothing; how to dress for comfort and safety, including low cost options and sources; and an overview of fitness, first aid, navigation and hiking etiquette. We will also demonstrate how to sign up for a hike on the Mountaineers website, and understand the distance, elevation gain, and difficulty level of the listed hike. Mountaineer membership options and costs will be reviewed and you will have the opportunity to become a Mountaineers member (initiation fee waved if you sign up at the seminar). There is NO COST for this seminar! You don't have to be a Mountaineers member to attend. However, we do ask that you sign-up to attend the seminar as room capacity seating is limited to 35.
