Heidi Walker   (Qualified Youth Leader)

This is a hike out along a 5 mile long (one way) sand spit to a active lighthouse. This hike is located a little north of Sequim. BEFORE PLANNING OR GOING ON THIS HIKE, CHECK THE TIDE TABLES: http://www.saltwatertides.com/dynamic.dir/washingtonsites.html. A Low Tide of 1 foot or less (minus tide is even better) at the midpoint of your hiking day is recommended. Hike along a narrow piece of beach that leads to a light house and views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The spit is a wildlife sanctuary and home to several species of bird. $3 day use fee per person or family. Golden Eagle or Golden Age passes are accepted. NW Forest pass is not accepted. Map is available at the trailhead.

This hike is part of the Conditioning Hiking Series course. Please do not register for this hike if you are not a participant in the course. (Participants: this is a CHS 1 level hike, intended for those returning from the Coast Cleanup.)
