Purpose: Gain practical experience in rock scrambling and cross-country travel: - Rock Scrambling, foot placement, hand holds, balance, use of friction - Rock fall avoidance, Objective hazards recognition - Use of hand lines, Arm rappel, Dulfersitz - Off-trail travel; Minimum impact, Safety - Basic knots test (all knots listed in the manual) Equipment: - Dress as though you are going on a typical rock scramble trip - Bring Basic Scramble Gear listed below, except for map - OK to use medium weight boots - Bring helmet - Bring material for a Hasty Harness Kit - 20 to 25 ft long 1” wide tubular nylon webbing - 8 ft long 6-mm Perlon cord - A large pear-shaped locking carabiner - Bring leather gloves.
