Tuesday Afternoon on the Jetty, SK2/2+ Meet at Everett Marina park at 1630 or earlier if needed to make launch time. Allow for traffic since our departure is based on tide and sunset, which wait for no one. Launch site has decent parking and restrooms. Brief and depart no later than 1700, having checked that everyone’s boat is reasonably balanced fore and aft, and all rudder/skeg mechanisms are working. We will round the south end of Jetty Island, perhaps getting some bracing practice near the south Jetty marker, then proceed up the weather (west) side of Jetty for a short beach visit. Depending on the group and the wind, we may re-trace our route back through rough water around the south end of the island toward the marina park. Or we may continue north and circumnavigate Jetty clockwise though the mini-rip on the NE corner of the island, and paddle down the Snohomish river current back to the marina park. Post-paddle food & beverage is absolutely possible. In fact, likely. Dress for immersion and bring your essential safety gear plus some snacks, extra clothes, hat and other appropriate kit. Sunset time is listed as 21:07, and everyone needs to have a headlamp and marker light where they can be reached while underway. Recommend everyone bring an extra 1-2 liters in water bottles or bladders to trim boat balance for wind. Note that while this paddle can be good fun and good practice, it is NOT long enough to satisfy the requirements for course credit in Basic Sea Kayaking. Students who have completed the classroom and open water portions of Basic Sea Kayaking, but not yet completed their open water paddles, may still participate in this paddle with leader permission. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=48.003972,-122.219628&spn=0.004314,0.010568&t=h&z=17 11-June: High= 11.2 ft @ 20:38 // Sunset = 21:07
