The Glacier travel course is designed for those with some previous climbing/scrambling experience who want to learn the basics of safe glacier travel. This course will cover Ice axe use, roped glacier travel, crevasse rescue, and gear selection that is appropriate for spring/summer glaciated peak climbing. There is one lecture and three fieldtrips, all are required to go on climbs and to graduate from the course. There are NO makeup sessions for any of these dates so students must be sure they can make ALL of these planned events. Course fee is $200. Students MUST have successfully completed the Navigation course and posses a valid Navigation Card at the time of the first lecture. Navigation course classes are scheduled for winter and early spring dates. Potential applicants without a valid Nav card should check for availability of classes completing prior the first lecture. This is a fast paced course and students are required to be in good condition at the start of the course.
