Stevens Pass Ski Area North Lot

A short but somewhat strenuous climb to a high alpine lake. We will follow the road/steep jeep track up to the shores of Skyline Lake for lunch and then amble on along Skyline Ridge for up to 2 miles, depending on conditions. As we climb we will stop to study tracks in the snow, look at lichen growing on the trees, and maybe see some cross-bills flying up in the tree tops.
This is a Naturalist Trip, but all participants must be able to snowshoe and be fit enough to do a moderate climb on them. The pace will be leisurely, but you will be hiking in winter conditions and will need to carry enough gear to take care of yourself for warmth and wet. Bring a lunch. Ski poles strongly recommended. Sturdy footwear and snoeshoes are required.
