Join us to learn and practice dry-tooling techniques in an outdoor top-roped setting. This is also a great way to improve your ice tool finesse and conditioning for ice season—even without the ice. Course consists of one lecture/practice session at the Program Center, and a one day Field Trip to a local dry tool crag.

Schedule Class Meeting – Oct 23, The Mountaineers Program Center, Goodman C Find out what mixed climbing is all about, learn drytooling techniques, take a look at gear options, and review field trip logistics. Field Trip – Option 1, Oct 26, or Option 2, Oct 27. Cougar Mountain Drytool Crag, Issaquah. Spend one weekend day of top-roped climbing at the Issaquah drytooling site working on skills. Gear Ropes are provided but personal climbing equipment (harness, helmet, crampons, ice tools, etc.) is not. Purchase, rent, or borrow the required equipment. Alpine ice gear can suffice. We will provide more details about gear at the class meeting. Eligibility This intro seminar is intended for members of The Mountaineers with prior ice climbing experience or instruction.
