In wildness is the preservation of the world. Henry David Thoreau Bring your creative spirit on this two day outing at Twin Sisters Lakes in the beautiful Cascade Mountains. As we are inspired by the world around us, express yourself through writing, music, dance, photography, painting, or drawing. Develop your creative practice of the wild through natural history observation, writing and journaling, or your favorite form of artistic expression. Pack your journal, camera, sketchbook, paints, pencils or other items, along with your camping gear. We will hike into the lakeside campsites on Saturday morning, and set up camp. You can participate in a journaling workshop on “The Practice of the Wild”, with Rebecca Chamberlain, Northwest poet and author. She will draw from American naturalist writers such as Thoreau, Gary Snyder, Terry Tempest Williams, and others. You will have the afternoon to draw inspiration from the surrounding lakes, meadows and peaks. After the evening meal, you will have the opportunity to share your artistic work. Sunday morning we will take a group hike to Tumac Mountain, an old fire lookout site, (4.5 miles RT), before breaking camp and returning home. Meals: Your own lunches and breakfast.
