Heybrook Ridge Trailhead

If you're a Basic Alpine Climbing student then this activity qualifies as credit for your Stewardship graduation requirement.
This is typically wet and dirty work so we recommend bringing older outerwear which you don't mind getting messed up. Also make sure to bring...rain pants, heavy leather gloves, gaitors, compass, 10 essentials, lunch, NW Forest Pass for each car, etc. Also it's possible that some of the stump signs will be missing, so bring your Navigation field trip handouts if you still have them because it might be useful to have the stump field maps, bearings, drawings, and range tables.
The plan is to meet at the trailhead and be ready to go at 9am, cookies and coffee will be waiting for you when you arrive. Please carpool to reduce our footprint at the parking area by specifying your carpool preference when you sign up.
Looking forward to seeing you Saturday morning!
Don't forget to bring your compasses (and gators)! The plan is to meet at the trailhead ready to go at 9AM. Cookies & coffee will be waiting for you there! It would be best for us to create several carpools to reduce our footprint at the TH parking area, so please update your carpool preferences when you sign up. As far as preparations for stewardship, let’s go through the list: Equipment: the Nav committee has a good selection of large loppers, but if you have favorite gardening/brush-cutting tools, please feel free to bring your own. Clothing: you will want to dress in your older clothes, plus rain pants, gaiters, and gloves, since this is typically fairly wet work. Guides: bring your instructor handout, because the stump field maps are useful. Additional stump maps, drawings, bearings, and range tables. It is quite possible that some of the stump signs will show up missing, and it can be challenging to figure out which stump is which if several signs are missing in a small area. After we’re finished with the stump area we will likely take a look at road edges and clear as appropriate. Looking forward to seeing you Saturday morning!
