Esmerelda Basin
We’ll hike at a leisurely pace and have frequent stops to study and identify plants and animals. The trail to the basin gains about 400 feet in approximately one mile and has a number of small stream crossing. Hiking poles may be helpful.
We’ll explore the basin which has open meadows, seeps, and woods. The group may choose to continue hiking the trail as it switchbacks to higher, more open ground toward Fortune Creek Pass.
A Forest Service trail pass is needed at the trailhead.
