We will be meeting at the Y intersection where you can choose left to Carbon River or right to Mowich Lake. There is a drive up a gravel road so we should carpool into the more sturdy cars. This is a very long hike, and I will be keeping a very strenuous pace so only hikers in prime condition with distance training should sign up. I will ask you what hikes you have done lately and how long they took you, before I will sign you up for the hike. We will descend the Paul Peak Trail and meet up with the Wonderland Trail at the South Mowich River Camp. Then follow the Wonderland trail up past the Golden Lakes another mile/mile and a half to an open view of Mt. Rainier. This puts the total elevation gain at 3700 and the distance at just over 22 miles. I will not be stopping very often and will keep a steady pace so that we can reach our goal and back before dark. However, be sure to bring the 10 essentials including a headlamp.
