Tibbett's Valley Park & Ride

Total mileage is 11.5 miles. PCT mileage is 11.5 miles. GT239.

This hike can be done in conjunction with Hikes B-6, B-8, B-9A, or B-8/9. The logistics of this hike is farily reasonable (an hour for car stage) so it can be flexible with which hike it is paired with. Special Note – When this hike was done on 10/17/2009, there was an abundance of untouched Huckleberries throughout the hike…. They were still reasonably ripe as well…

Check out this MAP of this hike.

Start at 3460’ at Tacoma Pass. Climb up to 4300’ over 8 miles. Then drop to Stampede Pass at 3680’. Total Gain – 840’

HIKE – You will go north 0.5 miles on the PCT. Continue North. The next 2.4 miles you will pass Sheets Pass, arriving at Bearpaw Butte. You’ll go another 2.0 miles, passing Snowshoe Butte and passing some FS Roads….. Go another 2.6 miles. Then you’ll go another 2.5 miles. Finally you’ll go the last 1.5 miles which includes an area for Huckleberries.

GETTING THERE – From Seattle, take Interstate-90 East to Exit #62, Stampede Pass. Follow signs to Stampede Pass. You will go about 1.1 miles on a paved FR 54. The pavement will end at the intersection of FR 54 and FR5480. Stay on FR 54 you will pass the 420 Rd which goes to Meany Lodge on the left, just past the Iron Horse John Wayne Trail. From the paved road you will travel approximately 2.4 miles to the junction of FR54 and FR 41. At this point at least one of the cars needs to be staged at the finish so at least two cars will continue a mile. Leave a car. And re-trace back a mile to the Intersection of FR54 and FR41. Turn right on to FR 41. You will drive about 7.7 miles to FR 4112. Bear right and you will go 1.3 miles to Tacoma Pass. Here is where you start the hike.
