This is a loop hike which begins at Walput Lake, passes through expansive wildflower meadows along the crest of Nannie Ridge, climbs the spine of the PCT, and runs through the cool forests in the Walput Creek valley. This is a loop hike which begins at Walput Lake, passes through expansive wildflower meadows along the crest of Nannie Ridge, climbs the spine of the PCT, and runs through the cool forests in the Walput Creek valley. And best of all it has marble-size huckleberries at this time of the year. The hike will begin and end at the Walput Lake Campground. The hike is 12.3 miles and 1800 feet elevation with 4 PCT miles. Participants are encouraged to also sign up for the Forest Road 5603 to Walput Lake hike, which will be on the Saturday prior to this hike. Sites will be reserved at Walput Lake for both Friday and Saturday nights. This hike is part of the PCT Series. Mountaineers Members that are part of the 2012 PCT Series have Leader Permission to sign up for an event after May 14th based on their lottery trip choices. Individuals not part of the PCT Series may sign up for two PCT Series hikes per year and may sign up for this activity no sooner than days proir to the activity date, if space is available and at leader discretion.
