This hike could be done in conjunction with Hike C-6 with potential car camping. It could also be done as a solo hike as well.

Begin at 4060’ at Stevens Pass. Drop down to 3850’, the climb back up to 5030’ before descending to 4700’ and leaving the PCT. Descend 900’ to end at the Smith Brook TH (3800’). Total Gain – 1180’

HIKE – Head North on the PCT from the Stevens Pass TH. You’ll go 5.4 miles to Lake Valhalla. Another 1.8 miles ill bring you to the Trail junction with Trail 1590. You will take a right on to Trail 1590 and hike 0.9 miles to the Smithbrook TH.

GETTING THERE – From Brickyard Park & Ride, it is estimated that it will take 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Stevens Pass with approximately 30-45 minutes needed for car staging.

Take Hwy 2 East to Stevens Pass. The PCT emerges from a large parking lot on the South Side. This is where people can wait while the other cars are staged. To get to the Smithbrook TH, go east 4.0 miles on Hwy 2 to dirt FR 6700. Go left (NW) on FR6700 and go 3.2 miles to Smithbrook Trail 1590.

This is the hike to Lake Valhalla, a very pretty lake below Lichtenberg Mountain. This is one of the easier and more accessible hikes of the PCT Series and is paired with a more strenuous hike on the PCT south of Stevens Pass on Saturday. This hike or backpack is part of the PCT Series. Mountaineers Members that ARE part of the PCT Series have “Leader Permission” to sign up for an event after May 14th based on their lottery trip choices. Individuals not part of the PCT Series may sign up for two PCT Series hikes or one PCT Series back pack per year, and may sign up for this activity no sooner than 10 days prior to the activity date, if space is available and at leader discretion.
