We’ll plan to leave the Seattle area mid-morning on Friday (after the morning rush hour) for a two hour drive to the TH. After lunch at the TH, we’ll hike approximately 6 miles to Van Epps Pass and set up camp (2000’ elevation gain). Optional day hike along the County Line Trail. Saturday, we’ll hike about 7 more miles (2000’ elevation gain) to move camp to Stuart Pass. Optional day hike along the Ingalls Creek Trail. Sunday morning we’ll complete the loop by way of Ingalls Lake back to the TH (6 miles, mostly downhill). We should return to Seattle in time for dinner.
Participants should have experience hiking 10+ miles per day. Some parts of the trail are not maintained so participants should be comfortable with off trail travel and route finding. Please bring your map and compass. Water availability may be limited in the fall, so it may be necessary to carry water up to a mile from the source to campsite. Planned pace is 2 mph.
Leader will contact participants in advance of the trip with gear requirements, planning assistance and potential for gear sharing. Carpooling is encouraged. Email leader with any questions.
Destination may be changed or trip canceled if weather or other conditions (i.e. smoke from fires) are not favorable.
Permits Required: free self-issue permit plus NW Forest Pass for parking
