Please make sure that you have experience on a previous strenuous backpack and are in shape for the elevation gain. Lighter packs are advised. Pace will be slow to moderate due to the elevation gain.
The drive over to the trailhead will take place late on the afternoon of July 26th. We will meet around 4:00 PM at a Monroe or Everett park & ride. We will camp at the trailhead or nearby. The drive will take around 4 hours.
The first day of hiking we will follow Foggy Dew Trail for 2.5 miles and then take a break and admire the falls here. At 5 miles we will head right on Martin Creek trail. Cooney Lake is reached after 8 miles and 3700 feet of elevation. We will camp by the lake on the west shore.
On the second day of hiking, we will begin the loop on the way back and climb 600 feet up to magnificent views of the lake basin and out across the Sawtooth and Chelan ranges. After 2 miles, we will come to a junction and descend to lovely Sunrise Lake. We will enjoy the second Golden Lake and continue 2 miles back to the Sawtooth ridge and complete the lollipop loop by taking Foggy Dew trail back to the trailhead.
