7:00 AM

Puyallup South Hill P&R

Park at lower MTTA snowpark (the one with outhouse), or if road is drivable, continue another 1/3 mile uphill to signed turnoff to Anderson Lakes. Follow ungroomed road to Anderson Lakes overlook, down to lakes, then up the ridge to High Hut, finally down the groomed MTTA trail to complete a loop to starting point. Hot lunch option at the hut, where you can use the stove to heat food or drink. Snow park permit required. Bring snowshoes and poles. Ice axe not anticipated to be needed unless conditions are unusually hard snow. Possibly the best indoor view of Mount Rainier in the state is from High Hut.
NOTE this will be a STRENUOUS, not an easy + trip. 9 miles, 2500' gain. We will do a loop, breaking trail to Anderson Lake, then up the ridge to High Hut, finally down the groomed MTTA trail to our starting point. Hot lunch option at the hut, where you can use the stove to heat food or drink. Snow park permit required. Bring snowshoes and poles. Ice axe not anticipated to be needed at this time.
