Whether you enjoy popular day hikes or scramble to remote peaks, chances are you have observed many of the social and environmental impacts of careless recreation. During The Mountaineers Outdoor Ethics Leadership Training, Sunday, February 10, 10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at The Mountaineers Program Center, students will learn about outdoor ethics and best practices for low impact recreation specific to a variety of activities including hiking, climbing and scrambling, sea kayaking and backcountry winter recreation. Facilitated by a Leave No Trace Master Educator, this training prepares participants to share their knowledge in formal and informal settings and includes a balance of lecture, role play scenarios and participatory practice lessons. Course fee includes a copy of Leave No Trace: A Guide to the New Wilderness Ethic by Annette McGivney.
