We'll take you through a 10 week intensive training cycle to push your abilities to a new level. The course covers climbing technique, physical conditioning, mental training, advanced belay technique, and falling practice. Participants train together as a team for the 10 week cycle. Leader permission required: Must be able to lead 5.9 or higher on bolts, set up, clean and rappel a sport route. Must have or obtain a lead belay card from Vertical World. Required Equipment: 60m / 70m rope for top roping and leading, 6 quickdraws, top rope anchor set up, rock shoes, helmet, harness. Required Reading: The Self-Coached Climber by Dan Hague and Douglas Hunter, Espresso Lessons by Arno Ilgner.
Course Dates:
Evening Lectures: February 27, March 7, March 27, April 17, and May 8 at 6:30pm at the Mountaineers Program Center.
Field Trips: March 16/17 (Vantage), March 30/31 (Tieton), April 13/14 (Leavenworth), April 26-28 (Smith Rock), and May 11/12 (Vantage).
Optional weekly meet-ups at Vertical World Seattle (Monday evenings) and Vertical World Redmond (Wednesdays evenings).
Falling and Belaying Class March 23 & 24 2:30-4:30pm at the Seattle Vertical World.
