Surf Clinic Weekend, Twin Harbors State Park, July 28 -29. This clinic is for Olympia Branch paddlers without experience of paddling in the surf. Generally, participants will have the opportunity to learn advanced balance, bracing, and edging skills, and develop some level of comfort in lumpy water paddling, even when they realize that capsize may be imminent. The training will take place largely in the "soup" -- the frothy, moving water that is close to shore and after the large waves break. The clinic will not provide instruction on surfing waves. Participants can choose to attend either one day or both days. Campsites have been reserved for those opting for the full two days. Immersion gear and helmets required.
