Tumbler Ridge, BC

5-6 day photo-oriented, magnificent remote wilderness backpack in Monkman Provincial Park in the Hart Ranges of the Central Rocky Mountains. This amazing park features "extensive alpine meadows, jagged mountain peaks, forested valleys, thundering waterfalls and clear alpine lakes." Countless wildlife inhabit Monkman - black & grizzly bears, mountain goats, lynx, caribou, moose, deer, mountain sheep, wolves, martens, wolverines, marmots, owls, ptarmigan, grouse, loons, and more!

Monkman Prov Park backpack (5-6d RT): Monkman Pass Memorial Trail - Kinuseo Falls campground/trailhead to spectacular Monkman Cascades (series of 10 waterfalls), Monkman Lk, Hugh Lake (at 32K) and surrounding scenic Monkman Tarns with mountain and glacial views. Monkman Pass Memorial Trail is regarded as a premier backpack experience comparable to BC's Chilkoot and West Coast Trails, but with even greater wilderness values.

We'll visit Monkman's Kinuseo Falls, perhaps BC's most beautiful waterfall, before or after our backpack.

Alternate 3-5 day premier backpack is Wapati/Onion Lk, if access issue at Monkman.

Before or after backpack, leader will offer day hikes in Monkman Prov Park, Boulder Gardens' bizarre rocky maze or a paleo day hike (see fossils, dinosaur trackways) in Tumbler Ridge area (Flat/Wolverine Crks).

Guidebooks/descriptions: Exploring Tumbler Ridge (Monkman, Wapati/Onion Lks, and all other TR trails), and BC Provincial Parks website (for Monkman, Wapati).
