Esmeralda Peak and Mt. Hawkins provide a beautiful alpine backdrop to Gallaher Head Lake. This trip will begin at the Boulder De Roux campground. The trail follows the De Roux creek through pine forest . There are meadows and bluffs with views of the Stuart Range as the trail gains 1800 ft. in elevation. Gallaher Head Lake, lies in a basin where the trail meets Fortune creek. Challenges: a log stream crossing, possibility of ORVs. Location: Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forests, Cle Elum Ranger District. Forest Service Pass Required

Although open to all club members over age 18, this trip is also part of the B3 backpacking Building Blocks series and eligible for B3 course graduation credit. In addition, this backpack will have a practical instructional/learning focus and offer experience in proper gear use and camp set-up techniques.
