Monroe Park N Ride lot

Located just east of Stevens Pass ski are, Yodelin is the site of an abandoned ski area that was popular in the 1960's. Follow US Hiway 2, 1.5 miles east of the summit. Yodelin will be at the first parking area on the right, south of US Hiway 2. Walk up the road in front of the lodge to the upper parking lot and ascend the open snow slope directly above this parking lot, switchback left then right to the obvious gap 100 yards up, this will put you on a road, go left. DO NOT snowshoe in the skiers skin track, you may use where they are planting their poles to either side, or anywhere else, but do not disturb the smooth skin track. Follow the road up, switchbacking where necessary to continue on an upward route. At the high point where the forest thickens to mature trees you will see a large concrete block used for the ski lifts that use to service this area. Use your map and head E into the forest, then ENE through the forest, or follow next to the skin track if there is one in this area, which will lead you to point 5023'. Explore the area and then descend on the route you climbed or whatever route you choose. Moderate avalanche potential may exist. This is a north facing slope. Be knowledgeable of the avalanche forecast.

Graduates of the Everett Basic snowshoe course may attend. Additional snowshoe graduates will be taken on a first come first serve basis. We will meet at the Monroe Park n Ride, just west of Monroe on the north side of Hiway 2, at 7:30am. This trip is 4+ miles, 1600 foot elevation gain and rated as Easy+. We will be spending the day on the trail, eating lunch near peak 5273’ and returning to Monroe about 5pm approximately. This trip is a go sun or snow! Avalanche conditions may require a change...
