Introduction to Skate (XC) Skiing

(One-Day)

Skating on skis: Fast, exhilarating, and a great workout. Designed for the novice or beginning skate skiers, the class cover basic skating techniques and movement patterns to get you gliding effortlessly down the trail. This is a one-day intensive class designed for XC skiers who want to learn the basic classic XC skiing techniques but are unable to take our multi-week course.

Taught by PSIA instructors on groomed trails.

Previous skiing experience either XC or alpine will help facilitate a fast-track learning experience. Potential participants without previous skiing experience are encouraged to complete the Introduction to Cross Country class.

Classes are taught on groomed trails at sno-parks in the Snoqualmie Pass/I-90 corridor. A sno-park permit with groomed endorsement is required for each parked vehicle. For more information, go to: http://www.parks.wa.gov/winter/

Participants supply their own ski gear. Options including gear purchase at retail shops or ski swaps, or rental at various rental locations.

Class meets at Crystal Springs Sno-Park (south of I-90 Exit 54) at 9:15 AM for a 9:30 start. Class is 9:30 - 2:30 and will be taught on Erling Stodhal XC ski trails adjacent to sno-park. Class location may be changed due to snow plowing and grooming conditions. Sno-park permit required for each parked vehicle.
