Lots of options for distance and elevation gain with the trail system in the Park. Map and understanding of basic navigation recommended for this trip - there are lots of trail junctions. Download map at the bottom of the webpage: http://www.metroparkstacoma.org/five-mile-drive; walk in shade of trees with stops at viewpoints. Rhododendrons blooming in April. Huckleberries in Aug-Sep. Also in 50 Trail Runs in Washington

We'll hike around Pt. Defiance Park as a group, going at the pace of the slowest person. If you haven't been on one of my trips before please get in touch with me (email or phone) so we can chat about our mutual expectations for the day. We'll have lunch by Fort Nisqually.
