Climb Leader Seminar

10/27/12 (Sat)

Seminar/Clinic
Everett Climbing

Tony Tsuboi

8:45 AM

Seattle MPC - Cascade Room

The Climb Leader Seminar will address the path to becoming a Climb Leader – Expectations of this role, the development and mentoring process, how and when to petition to become a Climb Leader. This seminar will also cover best practices in climb leadership. The AIARE Decision Making Framework will be broadened and adapted to non-avalanche scenarios of risk management on Basic and Intermediate climbs. Our desired outcome is for smarter decisions in the field and improved alpine safety. Intermediate Students and prospective climb leaders should attend. This is also a recurrent requirement for Everett Branch Climb Leaders to maintain their Climb Leader status.

If you are an Everett Climbing Instructor, you have permission. Bring pen and paper, lunch. Review the AIARE Decision Making Framework beforehand and prepare to discuss how this would apply in leading a trip and managing risk.
