Navigation Instructor Training

01/22/13 (Tue)

Seattle Navigation

Michael Sweeney   (Qualified Youth Leader)

6:30 PM

Seattle Program Center

If you'd like to instruct at the Navigation Workshops and Field Trips, then this hands-on workshop will help prepare you with teaching techniques, tools, and tricks of the trade. New instructors are encouraged to attend, but it's not required. Experienced instructors are also welcome, especially if they haven't instructed for a few years.

We'll review the Workshop problem set from an instructor's point of view, and we'll also discuss key points you should cover with your small group during the Field Trip. We'll also talk about UTM in more detail.

Please bring USGS Baring and Index maps, compass, pencil, and paper for taking notes.

In order to attend you need to be a Basic Navigation Course graduate, but if you're not then you'll need to contact the Seattle Navigation Committee Chair to apply for special permission.

This is an opportunity for those who are interested in instructing at a Navigation workshop and/or fieldtrip to get better prepared by walking through the material and learning Nivation instructor tricks of the trade. Leaders will review workshop materials and key items to cover during the field trip.
