This is one of my personal favorite scrambles that I lead every year. It's got a little of everything scrambly, including beautiful early views of the north face of Baring, loose rock, some snow in the main and side gullies, some steeper snow near the top, some alpine meadows, and expansive views over the middle North Cascades (and all of the familiar Navigation Story Problem peaks: Baring, Townsend, Gunn, Index...). You need to be in decent mid-season condition: while our pace will be moderate, the slope angle is unremitting once we go off trail. While no single move or aspect of the scramble is super-technical, the wide variety of conditions and the range of skills needed requires a good all-round scrambler. Woot! Come on along on a great T5 scramble!
