Olympia Hiking

Anne Whitney

The trail to the summit winds through a mature forest punctuated with lush salal and some of the finest rhodendrons in the Olympics. At 1.8 miles, it arrives at a rocky summit with partial views of Mt. Baker, Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. Another 0.5 miles along the trail brings you to a large outcropping that offers panoramic view of the surrounding area including the towering and serrated Gray Wolf Ridge and lofty Mount Townsend. Vault toilet in parking lot.

Family hike, especially for children, but anyone is welcome. Located NW of Quilcene. Moderate/slow pace on a well maintained trail. Hopefully the rhododendrons will be in bloom, but the there will be panoramic views of the Cascades and Olympics. Call or email hike leader Anne Whitney. 360-753-6526 or E-mail: alobe75290@aol.com
