This is another Nicole [Hansen] and Suzanne adventure (we will be leading a series of backpacks together this summer) - but this backpack is not for beginners. Waptus Lake is the largest lake in the 394,000-acre Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Looping around Polallie Ridge, we will have views, wildflowers, lots of birds and most likely, with the high elevation being 5300 ft, snow to trudge through. But don't worry, we won't be camping in snow. The elevation of the lake is only 3100ft. This time of year, the trail will be wet with lots of streams to cross, so finding water won't be an issue. A detailed email will be sent out to participants to arrange carpools and discuss equipment prior to the backpack. Members only.
