A great hike in itself, and companion to The Mountaineer's June 13th lecture and presentation, Alpine Lakes: Wilderness in Our Backyard. Hikers, armed with information about the history of the original Alpine Lakes Wilderness bill and the current expansion initiative, will see firsthand the recent improvements in the valley and learn more about its protection. We'll walk a portion of the downstream trail that will eventually go to Pratt Lake, and then hop onto the upstream trail and enjoy the lush forest, and views of the river, which is under consideration for Wild & Scenic status.
