This is for registration of tenting participants only who will be camping at Lake O'Hara Campground, and will be joining day photo hikes with participants staying in huts (see separate listing Nature Photography at Lake OHara, Yoho NP 9/17-21).

Enjoy nature photography and subalpine to alpine natural history wonders, at the most spectacular scenic backcountry area in the Canadian Rockies during fall color. Views range from close up to panoramic views of mountains, glaciers, dramatic rock forms, lakes and tarns, waterfalls, meadows, cascading streams, golden alpine larch, birds and other wildlife (pikas to larger species). Expect abundance of botanical attractions - mushrooms, lichens, mosses, fall color transformations of foliage and larches. You may even see a wolverine in one of the Canadian Rockies' best areas for sightings. Be prepared for a light snowfall to enhance the stunning scenery. Day hikes will include Lake Oesa, Opabin Plateau, Schaefer Lk, and more. Bus transportation provided to tenting base camp at Lake O'Hara. Expect countless photo opportunities, natural history, and a memorable trip to a very special place in the Canadian Rockies!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Participants must be fit to day hike 6-10 miles with 700-2000' gain days, at moderately high elevations (6500-8500'). Before sign up, be sure to have one of the required border crossing documents: current passport, WA enhanced drivers license, or WA enhanced ID card.

Trip space is available for up to 4 tenting participants.

FOR TENTERS (MAX 4 PERSONS): Before June 14, up to 4 persons with leader pre-approval may register as tent campers for this trip. Registration is provisional, until leader receives a confirmation copy of the participant's tenting/bus reservation and a non-refundable $5 fee for share of nominal group costs. Leader will provide instructions for tenting/bus reservations.

Tenters (3-nights maximum) are responsible for payment to Yoho NP for tenting/wilderness pass, bus and reservation fees, approx $63. Tenters will reserve by phoning Yoho NP beginning June 17 or 18 for 3 nights (9/17,18,19 or 9/18,19,20). The June 17 or 18 reservation date is important, as space is extremely competitive, often filling in the morning for the maximum 3 months advance reservation.

Above costs for tenting participants do not include park entrance pass (per person cost): approx $10/day or $68/annual.

Tenters must be prepared for cold evening temps, 30F to 10F.

Leader will provide registered participants with recommendations for pre-trip accommodations - camp, hostel or motels in Yoho NP & Banff NP/Lake Louise areas.
