Snowshoe Basic:   Overview

The Snowshoe Basic course (formerly Snowshoe Lite) offers an introduction in safe and enjoyable winter travel for the beginner. This is an opportunity for those who want to get a taste of snowshoeing and pick up a few good skills without the commitment of a full course.

Course Structure

The course is offered as a split session with a lecture and an all day field trip.

Topics of instruction include:

• selection & use of proper equipment
• conditioning
• where to go snowshoeing
• what and where to rent
• winter travel
• safety

Students will be eligible to participate in snowshoe tours designated as easy and easy+ with the confidence of having a foundation in winter travel.
