Responsibilities of Every Hiker

Any person who participates in a Mountaineers hike is expected to assume and fulfill the following responsibilities.

The hiker should:

1. Be adequately prepared for the hike selected. This includes bringing along the Ten Essentials and proper gear and equipment for the season, weather, and location of the outing. See the Essential Hiking Gear page

2. Be in physical condition adequate for the hike selected.

3. Be a responsible group member and abide by the decisions of the leader or by the consensus of the group.

4. Be a responsible carpooler or safe, responsible driver.

5. Follow correct procedures for trip signup, canceling, and wait listing.

6. Have a signed waiver on file with The Mountaineers before signing up for the hike.
