I am a freelance nature and wildlife photographer based near Issaquah, WA. I retired from Boeing as a Systems Engineer in 1995 and have been joyously researching, traveling, and photographing ever since.
I learned to photograph in the mid-seventies in order to capture the awe I felt when experiencing places of great natural beauty. Photography soon became a passion, as did sharing my slides with others so they could see the magnificence of our natural world. I led multitudes of nature photography field trips for The Mountaineers – again to introduce people to stunning photographic locations. My book, Washington Nature Weekends, and my website, www.sunnywalter.com, are all about where and when to see nature’s glorious subjects.
My most enduring passion is to help others learn to love nature’s landscapes and to encourage them to become more active in saving our precious habitat from destruction. As nature photographers, we can make a difference in the battle to save the land we love.
