Photography Committee

SEATTLE BRANCH

Nearly all Mountaineers activities represent photographic opportunities. Landscapes, wildflowers, wildlife, exciting action, and people having fun in nature are just a few of the potential subjects.

Artistic Presentations such as exhibits, shows, and competitions are the vehicles we choose to display these photographs to tell a story, record events, show our creative expression, educate, and even make a difference in public policy.

EXHIBITS

The work of individual Mountaineer photographers is exhibited in many northwest locations. One of our members has had solo exhibitions at major natural history museums and art galleries from Alaska to Florida and California to New York .

The Photography Committee maintains two print exhibits in The Mountaineers clubhouse in Seattle.

  • Display Case: A secure display case in the main foyer exhibits the work of a different photographer each month.
  • Library Gallery: The gallery was established through the creative vision of former librarian LoAnne Larson, as a joint venture of the Library and Photography Committees. The images are for sale as matted prints, with a portion of the proceeds going to the library fund.
To see who is currently exhibiting in The Mountaineers display case, please go our Photography Community page on the main Mountaineers website.
