SEATTLE BRANCH

The Mountaineers Photography Committee has a digital projector, available to members at the monthly potluck as an alternate to the film slide show. The digital projector has a maximum projection size of 1024 by 768 pixels. Bring up to eight digital images on a CD or jump drive, as outlined below.

  • Use photo imaging software, like Photoshop, to size your images. For horizontals, images can be the maximum: 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels high. If you wish to retain the 1:1.5 ratio of the 35mm film format, size the horizontal to 1024 x 683. For verticals, height should be 768 pixels, but reduce the width to 512.

  • Save up to eight images as high-quality jpegs to a new folder on your computer, then copy the folder to a CD or floppy disc. If you want the images to appear in a particular sequence, name them alpha-numerically (example: coast1.jpg, coast2.jpg, etc.).

  • You can, of course, crop your images differently for effect. For example, you may want to show a panorama sized for the 1024 pixel width but only 250 pixels high. Or perhaps you want to show a square 768 x 768. You get the idea.

  • Bring the CD or jump drive to the monthy meeting and we will load the images into the laptop that controls the projector. It's that easy.
Additionally, to maximize the quality of your photos being digitally displayed at the Mountaineers Potlucks we have put together a custom color profile.
