"Ptarmigan Ridge Dawn"

Beyond Artist Point at the end of the Mt. Baker Highway lies some of the most easily accessible yet beautiful alpine landscape in the Northwest. Hiking out Ptarmigan Ridge at dawn, I made it to this spot as the sun started to rise. Pink mountain heather blooms in the foreground, with Mt. Baker in the distance. In most years, this area remains covered in snow until quite late, but when it does start to melt out, it’s fantastic.
