"Sunrise from the Blast Edge"

Staying in Packwood for a several day trip to the Mt. Rainier area, I decided one afternoon to drive over to Mt. Saint Helens for sunrise the next morning without giving enough consideration to how far it actually was. Finally arriving at the edge of the blast zone on the road to Windy Ridge, I jumped out of the car and quickly set up the tripod to get this image. The brilliant red of the sun reflected off the mountain reinforced for me the fact that this was still an active volcano.
