The morning following the previous photo looked to be a rather uneventful sunrise until just before the sun crossed over the horizon. At the very last minute, the clouds lit up a brilliant pink against the dark blue of dusk. Reflected in the wet sand of the beach, a near perfect “X” was formed. As it started to form, I realized the possibilities and ran a hundred yards or so down the beach to position Haystack Rock at the intersection of the “X.” Within a few minutes, the sun was up and the colors faded dramatically.
