| Welcome new volunteers! If you are just browsing, read on. Thanks to all of you who have volunteered in support of navigation. Because of the nature of the navigation program, we require a large number of instructors, committee members, workparty members, workshop leaders and area leaders. We look forward to your continued participation. We welcome volunteers from any Mountaineers branch -- if you learn something here which you can take home, it's good for all of us -- and we will learn from you, too. | ||

| Instructor
trainees needed Intermediate climbing students and all graduates of Alpine Scrambling, Basic Climbing, Backcountry Ski and Snowshoeing interested in navigation, who are not yet qualified as instructors, are invited to learn how to instruct in the navigation program. At this point, instructor training is generally done via an apprenticeship system, in which the instructor trainee is paired with an experienced instructor. This will be a great opportunity to refresh and refine your navigational skills. Instructor and instructor trainee sign-up for all navigation events is through the web site (preferred) or through the clubhouse (if you don't have access to the web). Volunteers needed for preparatory tasks and trail maintenance Each season, there is a tremendous amount of work required to prepare for the workshops and field trips. Even if you aren't interested in the "committee" part of the work, we need people willing to participate in work parties to prepare the Heybrook Ridge site, to act as area leaders, to run errands etc. We also do trail maintenance on the trail up to the fire tower. For these and other tasks, volunteers are needed and welcome. To volunteer, or to ask questions, contact us via the instructor sign-up page. Volunteers needed for the Committee The Navigation Committee also needs volunteers interested in the planning and preparation of our courses, as well as work parties and other administrative details.
