A beautiful evening--we could see the moon, stars, and lights of the city. No wind, cool temperature, no boat traffic. Magic. We were all in costume--Brunhilda, Rapunzel, and the Carnevale Venetian. Some house boaters waved us off, but many had been waiting for us, loved the costumes, and were prepared with a variety of treats. And yes, we did get beer! A fine time had by all. We drank a toast to Annette.
Motivated students, appropriate equipment, skillful and patient instructors, nice venue, warm water, congenial atmosphere, attentive life guards, clean showers.
New ramp at Arcadia is very good and much wider: can accommodate two vehicles with boat trailers side by side with room to spare. At high tide, Steamboat Island actually is an island - passing under the bridge in shallows - but do-able. Discovered excellent salmon chowder at the Boston Harbor marina store. Weather was great - made for a very nice fall paddle trip. Tide/current tables (using T-Bone)proved accurate.
Surprisingly nice day. Fast water. Not much boat traffic. Southerly breeze.
Short wait at the Locks going out, boat traffic wasn't too bad considering the time of year. Beautiful 80 degree day. Paddle took us out of the Locks, North to Shilshole, then South to Westpoint for lunch. Wind picked up in the afternoon. No wait going back through the Locks. A wonderful mid September day.
